More about Jetsün Kushok and the importance of the Green Tara Empowerment
Jetsunma is one of the most respected female teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, a fully accomplished guru and lineage holder. Born in 1938, she is the elder sister of His Holiness Sakya Trizin, head of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. She received much of her training alongside her brother from such legendary teachers as Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lödro. You can read more of her inspiring life story on the Rigpa Wiki.
This event really is a rare opportunity – the last time a Green Tara empowerment was given to the Rigpa sangha was by Dudjom Rinpoche in 1984. This empowerment is particularly important for the Rigpa sangha. All Tara practices in our Daily Sadhana Book are practices of Green Tara, which we all practice regularly. In addition, the Green Tara practice of Zabtik Drolchok is one of the main Tara practices for the Rigpa Sangha.
